Cockney Rejects / Geoffrey Oi!Cott / Arch Rivals / Tear Up

Sat 25th Nov | 2pm | 20 adv | All Ages* Cockney Rejects www.cockneyrejects.com Rarely in the long history of British rocknroll has there been a story of such depth, magnitude and sheer turbulence as that of the Cockney Rejects The band were formed in the late Seventies in East London as an answer to the art school punk that had dominated the scene up until then. Fiercely working class instance and attitude, the band eschewed the political ramblings of punks first wave and sang about the circumstances that surrounded them and millions of street kids in Britains inner cities- Police harassment, street battles and football to name three. Signed by EMI after playing four local gigs (less than the pistols!) they found themselves playing sell out tours the length and breadth of the UK and seeing their debut album storm the charts. Top of the pops appearances followed, which became the stuff of legend as the band generally ran amok in the hallowed White city studios, finally getting banned from the show for their boisterous behaviour. Elvis In Concert At The O2 Arena

Following the sellout British arena tour last year and the No.1 multi-platinum album The Wonder Of You, Elvis arrives at The O2 on 30 November, for a live concert experience like no other, featuring the most recognisable voice of all time, backed by the legendary Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Tickets go on sale Friday 24 March and are available at www.theo2.co.uk or by calling 0844 856 0202. Last years run gained critical applause the Yorkshire Evening Post commented Elvis may have left the building but his legacy very much goes marching on, with the Birmingham Mail observing how the RPCO played a blinder to authenticate Elviss back catalogue, with The Spectator stating the technical achievement was remarkable. Featuring a very special personal appearance by Priscilla Presley, the shows will once again give fans a chance that many have never had before to experience the man who changed the course of popular music. Up close live on screen, the biggest selling solo artist in history (having sold an astonishing one billion records worldwide), alongside the RPCO live on stage performing the King of Rock and Rolls most well-known rocking songs and his tender, heart-wrenching ballads. The critically acclaimed albums, If I Can Dream and The Wonder Of You, used archive recordings of The Kings voice featuring new orchestral arrangements of some of his biggest hits, to create an overwhelmingly encapsulating and enthralling album. The latter was Elvis 13th No.1 album in the UK. These shows will be a musical celebration of the legend for whom superlatives werent enough and who continues to break records.
